Pet Loss Memorial & Grief Session
Losing our animal companions can be just as distressing as losing a human you were close with, and yet it’s a kind of grief that often goes unspoken and unsupported in our culture. This gathering is an invitation to share our grief and the joy and love we have for our fur babies in community.
Join Death Doula Addie from Moonlit Moth Doula Services for a Pet Loss Memorial and Grief Session, where we will come together to honor, remember, and share the lives of the animals who we’ve lost.
We will begin by co-creating a communal altar as a space of remembrance. You are invited to bring any meaningful items that represent your beloved companion: photos, collars, urn, paw prints, flowers, candles, or anything that feels significant to your connection. (All your items will return home with you at the end of the evening).
Over a potluck-style meal, we will share stories, memories, and reflections—speaking their names, recalling their quirks, and holding space for the very real grief that lives in their absence. This is a gentle, open space to be witnessed in whatever you are carrying, whether that’s sorrow, gratitude, love, or even numbness.
Please bring a small dish or snack to share with the group (something simple is more than enough). You’re also welcome to bring your animal’s favorite “people food” as a way of honoring them.
This is a space for tenderness, remembrance, and connection to ourselves, to each other, and to the animals who will always be part of us.
Older kids and teens are welcome.
Arrive between 5:30 and 6:00pm
We will wrap up between 8:00 and 8:30pm
Suggested donation: $20 - $30 (kids free)
Mortal Mondays: Household & Financial
Join death doula Addie as she walks you through this step-by-step end-of-life planning workshop in an approachable format.
Mortal Mondays are one-hour end-of-life planning sessions designed to help you actually get something done.
Each session includes a short, guided mini lesson focused on one specific piece of end-of-life planning, followed by quiet group work time (AKA body doubling) to complete that task.
Come if you’ve been meaning to start (or continue) your end-of-life planning and need structure, accountability, and a calm space to focus. No sharing required. Just show up and work alongside others doing the same.
Week 4: Household & Financial
This session gathers the practical information loved ones often scramble for — accounts, utilities, contacts, and day-to-day logistics. Small steps here can greatly reduce stress during moments of grief or transition.
The Shape of Grief: Embodied Movement & Sharing Circle
Grief comes in many forms. Sometimes it arrives as sorrow and longing; other times it moves like fire, restless, & overwhelming. Anger is also part of grief, even when our culture struggles to make room for it.
Join yoga therapist Brooke Monaco (Ananda Omaha) and Death Doula Addie Gengenbach (Moonlit Moth) for this somatic grief-processing experience that brings together movement and a reflection circle to acknowledge the full spectrum of emotions that come with grief.
This event is inclusive of all types of grief you may be expereincing, whether you've lost a loved one or you're experiencing grief from uncertainty in the world, and everything in between. We all hold grief for many reasons, all grief is valid.
Please bring a yoga mat (some will be available if you don't have one), a water bottle, and a notebook and pen.
Suggested $55, sliding scale available
Please register through the link (you may have to scroll down to find the event) or send payment to @BrookeMonaco on Venmo

Samhain Grief Ceremony
As the veil thins at Samhain, we are invited to pause and honor the tender spaces in our lives that grief has touched. This gathering is a sacred container for remembering loved ones who have passed, as well as acknowledging the grief that comes from relationships we’ve had to release, whether through distance, estrangement, or choice.
Together, we will hold space for story-sharing, reflection, and ritual. You are welcome and encouraged to bring photos, mementos, or symbols of the people you wish to honor. There will be time to speak aloud the names and stories of those you carry in your heart, and also time for quiet witness if you prefer to share silently.
Through candlelight, fireside stories, community, and gentle ceremony, we will weave our grief into something held—not alone, but together. This gathering is not about fixing or rushing the grieving process, but about honoring it as a natural part of our human experience, and finding comfort in being witnessed.
All are welcome, no matter where you are on your journey with grief.
As a note, this event will be held at Addie’s personal residence on her acreage in Council Bluffs. You will get the address after signing up. The event will mostly take place outside, weather permitting; an indoor space is available if the temperature drops below 45 degrees.
Investment: $30 - $60 sliding scale
