The loss of a baby or child can touch many lives, yet conversations about these experiences are often met with silence, discomfort, or uncertainty about what to say. This gathering invites the community to come together and speak openly about miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, child loss, and the many ways these losses ripple through families and communities.

Speaking of Death is a conversation circle guided by local death doula Addie of Moonlit Moth Doula Services in partnership with the Council Bluffs Public Library. This gathering welcomes anyone who has been touched by the loss of a child, including parents, grandparents, siblings, extended family members, friends, and those who wish to better understand and support loved ones who have experienced this kind of loss.

There is no set agenda, only a topic to get us started. Conversations unfold organically and shift depending on who is present and what experiences, questions, and reflections arise in the moment. This is not a workshop, therapy group, or support group, but a shared space for honest conversation about a subject that is often difficult to discuss.

You do not need to have experienced the loss of a child to attend. Listening is welcome, and sharing is always a choice. Whether you come with a story, a question, a memory, or simply a willingness to witness, you are welcome to join.

This event is free and open to the public, with beverage and snack refreshments provided.
