Death Doula Mentorship

Build your practice. Find your footing. Grow into the work.

You don't have to have it all figured out to begin, and you don't have to figure it all out alone.

Starting a death doula practice can feel like navigating unfamiliar territory. There's the business side, the questions about scope of practice, the uncertainty of working with your first clients, and the ongoing process of figuring out what kind of doula you want to be.

I'm offering mentorship for newer and emerging death doulas who want a supportive space to ask questions, work through challenges, build confidence, and develop a practice that feels sustainable and authentic to them.

This isn't about telling you how to be a death doula. It's about helping you find your own way of doing the work, while offering the experience, resources, and perspective I've gathered along the way.

Experience beyond death care

My path into death work wasn't a straight line, and I think that's part of what I bring to mentorship.

Before becoming a death doula, I spent a decade working in marketing and another decade working in graphic design. I also served as an executive director of a nonprofit organization and have spent the past 15 years building grassroots communities, organizing groups, and bringing people together around shared interests and causes.

For the past five years, I've independently researched the full spectrum of end-of-life care, death, dying, grief, and after-death care, while continuing to develop my own practice as a death doula.

These experiences give me a perspective that extends beyond death care itself. I understand the challenges of starting and running a business, communicating what you offer, building a recognizable brand, creating meaningful community connections, and developing something sustainable from the ground up.

I bring a combination of professional experience, independent research, practical problem-solving, and a genuine investment in the growth of this field.

I don't have all the answers, but I have a lot of experience knowing how to find resources, ask good questions, connect people, and help turn an idea into something tangible.

Who is mentorship for?

This mentorship is particularly suited for:

  • Newly trained death doulas preparing to start their businesses.

  • Doulas who have started working but are still building confidence.

  • People who feel overwhelmed by the business side of death care.

  • Doulas who are trying to narrow down their offerings or define their niche.

  • Established doulas who want an outside perspective or a place to brainstorm.

You don't need to have a fully established business or even your first client. You just need to be interested in growing into this work.

My approach to mentorship

I believe there is room for many different kinds of death doulas. There isn't one right way to do this work, and I don't believe mentorship should be about creating copies of ourselves.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and rooted in the belief that you already bring valuable skills, experiences, and perspectives to this work.

I'll offer honest feedback, share what I've learned, help you find resources, and ask questions that might help you see a situation differently. I'll also be honest about what I don't know and where someone else's expertise might be more appropriate.

The goal isn't to make you dependent on a mentor. It's to help you become more confident in your own abilities, decisions, and practice.

Let's work together

Whether you're just beginning to imagine what a death doula practice might look like or you're already working with clients and need a little support along the way, I'd love to help you find your footing.

Mentorship can be tailored to where you are, what you're working toward, and the kind of support you need.

You don't need someone to give you all the answers. Sometimes you just need someone to help you find the right questions.
