Join Omaha-based death doula, Addie of Moonlit Moth for this 2-hour workshop on how families can care for their loved ones after death.

For most of human history, families have cared for their loved ones after death. In modern times, many of these traditions and skills have been lost or become taboo. This workshop aims to introduce the Omaha-metro community to the history and practice of family-led death care, and to explore how families can choose to care for their loved ones at home.

During the workshop, we’ll cover a brief history of death care in America, discuss some of the laws and practical considerations surrounding family-led death care, and introduce participants to the basic practices involved in caring for a loved one after death.

Participants will also have the opportunity to work in small groups to create a mock home funeral using props and practice some of the concepts discussed during the workshop.

Whether you’re simply curious about what’s possible, interested in learning about different approaches to death care, or want to feel more prepared to care for a loved one, this workshop offers a welcoming space to learn, ask questions, and explore the concept of after-death care.
